The Glamorous Life

The other night my 5 yr. old called out, "Mom, do you want to see what just came out of my teeth?"

My response as I race down the hall to where she is, "Are you KIDDING me? Do you even have to ask?!!

Of course I don't actually want to see what just came out of her teeth. But I will go and see. And I will comment with all of the excitement and vigor the occasion requires.

That example was on the mild side. However, there are some things I just don't want to see. For example, "Mom, look, my poop is __________. (Fill in the blank with a color, or shape, fruit even...)" And while I would prefer to happily decline these invitations of "come and see" I continue to find myself in these circumstances. Praising, agreeing, and heaven help me, even coming up with a few suggestions of my own. Gross. Honestly there are some days where my stomach just churns all day long and I really don't have much of an appetite. Not that you could tell by the way my jeans are hugging.

In other bathroom news, Mason is working on using the big boy potty. He's doing pretty well when I take him in every 20 minutes. He's filled nearly two sticker charts! He has yet to tell me himself that he has to go. Well, except for that one time when he said the word and we went running to the bathroom. I was so proud! I quickly pulled his pants down and promptly realized he didn't need to go, he already had. That was fun! I am now cleaning the bathroom and doing laundry every single day. On the bright side, I've never been so caught up on my laundry and the bathroom has never been so sparkly clean!

Avery decided to surprise me today and clean out the fireplace. In her school clothes- khaki pants. Which necessitated me mopping the floor. That, although it needed to be done, was not on my list of things to do. Today. This week. Or quite possibly until the day my parents are due to arrive in April. Does this happen at your house? Good intentions and "surprises" make the most delightful messes to clean up.

Messes I'm trying to handle calmly. I really cannot imagine my life without these sticky little people.

Your "my poop is" comment totally made me laugh. I often get a description of the poop after a bathroom trip by Kaitlyn. Why is that? I guess they keep us young and on our toes.

Destinee, just came across you, your thoughts, your blog. You are amazing, your children are beautiful, your photography is breathtaking, and your thoughts are inspiring. Hope you don't mind if I hang out and visit often! I feel like my day will be better today because I "met" you. Funny how this blog thing can be.

I giggled from beginning to end.

(NO I don't want to see your poop, are you crazy?!)

And yet I do ... every time ...

Those pictures are to-die-for.

I like you, lady!

OH- I just can't wait. Well some of the cleaning projects aside, this is the life!

I love your pictures. I am hopeful that some day I will have the ability to take a good picture. (my skills are going downhill fast!, too much camera-too little skill)

Isn't it weird to think of how we spent our time before kids? Very cute pictures. When ever Gage asks me if I want to see his poop or what ever it is I kinda do even though it's gross I know I'm weird like that.

I LOVE the second pic. What a priceless moment. They will look back on that when they are older, and either laugh or just hug each other.
