My parents came out to help after Chapel was born. And boy was it a HUGE help! I think it helped the other kids transition so much better because there was lots of attention to go around. Also, it made the ratio of parents to kids 1:1, and how can you go wrong with that?
Grandma and Grandpa were able to come for two weeks. We didn't get out much, for any number of reasons. New baby. Strep throat for Brittain (and myself). A sinus infection and horrible allergies for Grandma. A deck to build. School to attend. Work- yay!
But we did fit in a few adventures and some game nights to boot! We had a picnic at Lake Powahatan. It was a little chilly but that didn't keep the kids from playing in the water. Then we went downtown one afternoon to see the new fountains and had lunch at the fabulous 12 Bones. (Which was Obama's dining of choice when he was in town! Smart move Obama.) We spent my birthday dinner at Papa's 'n' Beer. Love it! My mom made them sing. I wore a sombrero and the whole bit. Would you believe the waiter smeared my face (and shirt) with fried ice cream? Oh yes he did. There was chocolate and whip cream everywhere.

We sure miss you grandma and grandpa. Come back soon now that we're up for playing! And thanks so much for all the help with the kids, the house, the meals....

Gosh that seems like forever ago since I snuggled on my kiddo's. Miss you all so much!
Way cute!! So glad you had a good time with your parents. (Even though you guys were sick).
Fried ice cream in the face!? I bet that was yucky and yummy. ;)
