Grandparents are the best: Blau version

We had such a great time with Grandma and Grandpa Blau when they came to visit in June. We spent time at Lake Powahatan:hiking, swimming, fishing, eating. It was fabulous. There was a major thunderstorm and we got caught in the rain but had a great time anyway!

We went to Hot Springs, NC and spent time:hiking, swimming, fishing, and eating. Do you see a theme here? On our way back from the river up to the picnic site rain started to drizzle. Then it started to drop. "Oh, it'll blow over" Ryan assured me as we unloaded our picnic for the second time. Before it "blew over", we huddled under grandpa's raincoats beneath a tree for shelter while the drops turned to buckets of rain. And then, in what can only be described as a torrential down-pour, flash flood sort of storm, we made a mad dash to the cars. Everyone was dripping! We passed the grilled chicken from one car window to the next, along with a bag of chips. And not to worry, we got home safe, sound, and soaking wet. Then we made s'mores in the microwave. It was a perfect ending to a perfect day.

Grandpa tinkered around in the yard and installed not one, but two bird feeders. One for the hummingbirds. Grandma helped around the house and did projects with the kids. They helped repair a fence and build a new section of fence. We played lots of games into the wee hours of night/morning. We fit in lots of fun adventures in one short week. Would you believe in one short week we fed Ryan's parents Little Caesar's not once, but twice?! Ever the hostess...

We miss them. We hope they come back soon. We miss swimming, and hiking, and fishing, and eating in the rain.

I'm so jealous....of the storms and rain! For some reason, we have missed out on a "true" summer here? Don't get me wrong--it's been INSANELY hot...but I can count on one hand the number of storms we've gotten. 2?
Anyway, you're pictures are amazing, as usual! ;)
Can't believe how fast your kiddos are growing, too!! Miss and love ya!

Looks like a great time! I was trying to figure out who's little hand was holding the craw dad and decided it must be Avery cus Mason is not so much into bugs. You can see Brittains personality jump out of the pictures. I miss those kids like crazy.
