All Manners Out the Window

If you have kids, or you've ever eaten with kids, or you ever were a kid you'll know what I'm talking about. A drip of dinner spills on the table. It seems, at least in this household, no matter how many times instructed otherwise, that it is perfectly acceptable to lick whatever spilled, directly from the source. Tongue on table. Oh, you dipped your elbow in your bowl? No problem. Stretch, bend, lick to your little heart's content. Don't worry about what this does to my appetite. I really wasn't hungry anyway.

Which brings me to this morning. The morning all my manners flew out the window. We're having some friends over for dinner tonight so I started some Garden Fresh (or not) Tomato soup this morning. As I was transferring the soup from pot to crockpot I decided to pour myself a bowl for breakfast. (It's that good!) I was oh so careful not to spill. As I was cleaning things up I bumped my bowl and like 4 spoonfuls spilled onto the counter. I almost said a bad word. Not for the little mess but the wasted soup. (It's that good!) In the end I just could not bring myself to waste even a drop of that soup. I leaned down closer to the "tragedy". After making sure no one else was watching, I licked that soup right off the counter.
Well, almost. I couldn't quite bring myself to do that either. I compromised. Instead I dipped my finger, licked, and then repeated the process until the entire little heavenly puddle was "cleaned" up. You might think I'm crazy -but only if you haven't had this soup.

Well, I admit I have done the finger-dip-licking before but I've never wanted to lick something off my counter!

Hahahaha!!! You are hilarious Destinee! I can just imagine you doing that or else being on the phone while you did that. :) lol

I still need to make this soup! It's supposed to get REAL cold next week, maybe I make a batch then? I'll probably be licking it out of the bowl when I'm done, too! :)

I have had this soup at the Blau's (thanks again for dinner) and it IS THAT GOOD! It is easily good enough to lick off the counter so don't feel bad Destinee :) By the way can you post your pumpkin cake recipe too? That was so good and so was the bread you made although I am not sure I would do well at making that :)

Ok, everyone, it really is THAT good. I'm not even kidding...when I wash my blender out after I've pureed the soup, it seriously makes me sad to see the little bit left on the sides being washed down the sink. As I was making another double batch yesterday, Matt couldn't believe I was making it again! I told him he didn't have to eat it, but I want to eat it everyday :-) I LOVE it to dip grilled cheese in or just by itself. I'm so glad you have such great recipes!!

Oh, that is too funny... I think I might have gotten a straw and slurped it all up... I know the sadness of goodness wasted. It really is a travesty, and well, desperate times call for desperate measures, right?

Mommyj- I love that you said travesty. It was (not)on the tip of my tongue. Perfect. And you can bet I searched frantically for a straw first thing but they were gone. On account of my son thinking he needs to use 5 a day!

This gave me a good laugh. It brought back the memory of you spilling some Pepsi on a note to me on purpose back in the day. Did that really happen or am I losing my mind?
